Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958
- Opening and closing hours
- Fixed by the Government by notification, and may differ by class of establishment and by areaSection 9
- Closed day
- Every establishment is closed on Sunday, unless it is attached to a factory with a substituted day or the Government notifies another day. It may open on the closed day if that day is a festival and anyone working is paid doubleSection 10(1) and (3)
- Weekly off
- No employee works on the closed day, or on one day a week where the establishment keeps no closed day; a watchman may, if given another day off that weekSection 11

- Not yet addedThe last exemption from the opening-hours and Sunday-closing sections, in the Punjab Government Gazette of 3 July 2020, let every registered establishment open on all 365 days — but only to 31 May 2021. No later exemption has been published, so whether one is in force now is not yet added
- Notifying working hours
- The working hours, weekly off and rest interval are told to the prescribed authority within fifteen days of registration, and may be changed once a quarter on fifteen days' noticeSection 10(2)
