Punjab's two State Acts give different leave, and which one applies turns on the workplace: the 1958 Act covers shops and commercial establishments, the 1965 Act covers factories and plantations.

- What sick leave pays
- The average daily wage; but a worker entitled to sickness benefit under the ESI Act gets nothing under this Act for those days, and a worker entitled to neither gets half the average daily wageSection 5, provisos (b) and (c)
