Monthly wages: on or before the 7th of the succeeding month. Electronic credit plus a wage slip is the clean path.

Punjab minimum wages: ₹13,486 to ₹16,601 a month, statewide
Notification No. Labour-Lab0MIWA/1/2021-4L (260032)/166 of 01.05.2026, under section 8(3) of the Code on Wages, 2019, fixes one statewide basic rate for every employment in the State: ₹13,486 unskilled, ₹14,383 semi-skilled, ₹15,414 skilled and ₹16,601 highly skilled a month, with daily rates of ₹518.69, ₹553.19, ₹592.84 and ₹638.50. A second table sets ₹19,431, ₹17,510, ₹15,786 and ₹14,406 a month for staff categories A to D. The rates are basic: the promised price-index adjustment has not been published.

Punjab levies its professional tax as the State Development Tax: ₹200 a month
The Punjab State Development Tax Act, 2018 taxes professions, trades, callings and employment at a flat ₹200 a month, ₹2,400 a year. There is no salary slab: section 4(3) makes it payable only by those whose taxable income exceeds the income-tax exemption limit. Since 26 February 2021 the employer deducts monthly and deposits by the last day of the following month; since 1 February 2022 the annual return is due by 31 August.
Punjab Act 32 of 2014
Punjab LWF: ₹5 employee, ₹20 employer a month
Section 9-A of the Punjab Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965, inserted by Punjab Act 18 of 2006 at ₹1 and ₹2 and raised by Punjab Act 23 of 2011 and then Punjab Act 32 of 2014, sets monthly contributions of ₹5 from each employee and ₹20 from the employer. Both shares are paid before 15 October for April to September and before 15 April for October to March. The fund covers a factory or motor omnibus service whatever its size, and any other establishment employing more than twenty persons.
