A&N Islands Shops and Establishments Rules, 2005, as amended in 2026
- Who the Regulation applies to
- Shops and establishments employing 20 or more persons, or that employed that many on any day of the preceding twelve months. Below twenty it does not apply — though the OSH Code does, from tenSection 1A, inserted by the (Amendment) Regulation, 2025
- Operating every day
- Permitted — the rules open by providing that shops and establishments shall operate 24x7Rule 8, as substituted in 2026
- Weekly rest
- One day a week for every employee, on a rotational basis, notified in Form ERule 8(a)
- Working the rest day
- Allowed, against a compensatory holiday with wages within thirty daysRule 8(d)
- Calling an employee in on the weekly holiday
- Unlawful under the Regulation itself, for any work connected with the business of the establishmentSection 12(4) of the Regulation
