This Act commences by notification, and that notification is not held here

Section 1(4) brings the Act into force on such date as the State Government appoints by notification, and the Act was gazetted on 23 August 2018 without one. Two things are on file. The Labour Department's own services list offers “छत्तीसगढ़ दुकान एवं स्थापना अधिनियम 2017” as a live service, which is the State operating under this Act rather than the 1958 one it replaces. And the same department still publishes, on its ease-of-doing-business page, a notification of 5 August 2019 that amends the 1959 Rules under the 1958 Act — a page left standing rather than a rule still running, since section 30 repeals that Act. What could not be obtained from any Chhattisgarh or central channel is the commencement notification itself, or the Rules made under section 28. So no commencement date is stated here as a figure, and everything below is the Act's own authorised English text.

Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments Act, 2017
