What “8 hours work per day” in the schedules means
The hours the rate buys, not a limit the notification fixesEvery schedule in the batch heads its rate column “8 hours work per day” except Hotels and Restaurants, whose column reads simply “per month”. None of the nineteen fixes a daily or weekly limit, a rest interval, a weekly holiday or an overtime rate. The Puducherry Shops and Establishments Act, 1964 would fix them and its text has not been read.G.O. Ms. Nos. 09 to 27 of AIL/Lab./G/2024, all dated 2 September 2024
