Labour welfare fund
When to pay, how much.
Odisha has a labour welfare fund Act on the statute book, and this desk cannot yet tell you whether it bites or what it costs. Both gaps are in the Act itself rather than in the research.
Not yet verified against an official source- Is it in force?
- Not yet addedThe Act comes into force on such date as the State Government may appoint by notification. No such notification has been found, so whether the Act is in operation is not established here.Section 1(2) of the Orissa Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1996 (Orissa Act 14 of 2005)
- Employee contribution
- Not yet addedThe Act fixes only a floor — a sum “exceeding ten rupees” for every year — and leaves the amount itself to be prescribed by rules. Those rules are not held, so no figure is shown.Section 10(1) of the Orissa Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1996
- Employer contribution
- Not yet addedAgain a floor only: a sum “exceeding twenty rupees” for every year, for each employee, with the amount left to rules that are not held.Section 10(1) of the Orissa Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1996
- Which establishments
- Not yet addedAn establishment is a factory, a motor transport undertaking, or any other establishment under the Orissa Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1956, including a society or trust carrying on business, which employs twenty or more persons. Whether the twenty attaches to that whole limb or only to the societies and trusts at its end is not settled by the text, and it is not settled here.Section 2(d) of the Orissa Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1996
