Minimum wages
State, zone, skill — shops vs industrial.
One statewide rate for each grade; the notification sets no zones.
Daily rates, inclusive of dearness allowance, in force since 11 July 2022. These rates have stood unchanged for four years, and that is a confirmed fact rather than a gap in this desk. The Labour Department's own circular list carries no wage revision after this one, and the Department re-published this same 2022 notification as current on 5 June 2025. The rates are also stated to be inclusive of dearness allowance, so unlike most states there is no half-yearly allowance to add and no revision cycle to watch — which is part of why a single notification has served this long.
| Skill | Statewide |
|---|---|
| unskilled | ₹500.00 / day |
| Semi-skilled | ₹520.00 / day |
| skilled | ₹535.00 / day |
| Highly skilled | ₹565.00 / day |
The same notification also says
- The rates are per day and are inclusive of dearness allowance, but exclusive of any other concessions an employee enjoys. There is no separate allowance to add.
- They are effective from 11 July 2022 — the date the proposals were gazetted for objections — although the notification itself is dated 14 September 2022.
- There are no zones. One rate set covers the whole State and every scheduled employment; what changes the figure is the worker's category and the altitude at which the work is done.
- The notification classifies 151 job titles into the four categories — 39 unskilled, 54 semi-skilled, 50 skilled and 8 highly skilled. Every category ends with a catch-all for any other work of that nature, so the lists name examples rather than close the class.
- If a question arises about which category particular work falls into, it may be referred to the Labour Department, whose decision is final.
- A worker who works six consecutive days in a week without absence gets one paid holiday, on a Sunday or any other Haat day.
- No worker may be required to work more than nine hours in a day, with a break of one hour. Overtime is payable at twice the ordinary rate beyond eight hours in a day or forty-eight in a week — so the ninth hour is worked, and paid as overtime.
- It supersedes Notification No. 11/DL of 15 September 2017, published in Sikkim Government Gazette No. 440 of the same date.
- The notes to the notification are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8. There is no note 6, and nothing in the sense of them appears to be missing.

- Why no figures are shown for these
- Not yet addedThe notification states percentages and never prints the higher wages themselves. Showing a computed figure here would put a number on the page that no instrument states, so this desk shows the rate and the percentage separately and leaves the arithmetic to you.
