Minimum wages

State, zone, skill — shops vs industrial.

One statewide rate for each grade; the notification sets no zones.

Per day, in force from 1 April 2023, for four scheduled employments. These rates come from Notification No. B.14015/4/2010-LESDE/417 of 16 June 2023, made under section 3 read with section 13 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and effective from 1 April 2023. They are the figures for casual and muster roll employees, roads and building operations, and employment in registered factories not elsewhere classified. Public motor transport employees are fixed lower across all four grades. This is the latest rate notification Mizoram has published: the department's notification archive was read in full on 28 September 2026 and carries nothing newer, only sub-committee reconstitutions, and the State's Code on Wages Rules remain in draft.

The same notification also says

  • The rates are per day. The notification prints no monthly figure and gives no rule for working one out, so none is shown.
  • The grades are the notification's own: unskilled, semi-skilled, Skilled-II (junior grade) and Skilled-I (senior grade), with Skilled-I the highest paid.
  • Where the existing rates of an employee under a contract or agreement are higher than the rate notified, the higher is treated as the minimum rate applicable to that employee.
  • Women and disabled workers get the same rates payable to male and abled workers.
  • It applies to all Government departments, semi-Government organisations, and all public and private undertakings within the State.
  • It was approved by the Council of Ministers on 18 May 2023 and issued with the concurrence of the Finance Department, and was sent to the Controller of Printing and Stationery for publication in the Mizoram Gazette.
  • The number of working hours a day will normally be about eight for technical work; for clerical staff, peons and the like it is as prescribed by the employer, and office workers follow the office hours of the office or department where they are employed.

Mizoram's own rules · researched

The table above is from the state's own published minimum wage notification. Everything below is Mizoram-specific, researched and not yet checked against an official source.

Mizoram's most recent wage notification revises four scheduled employments. For everything else it leaves the existing rates in place, and those rates are not held here — so the first thing this page has to tell you is whether your work is covered.
