Minimum wages

State, zone, skill — shops vs industrial.

One statewide rate for each grade; the notification sets no zones.

Per day, in force from 2 November 2022. These rates come from S.O. 117 of 2 November 2022, made by the Administration of the Union territory of Ladakh under sub-section (2) of section 5 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and published in The Ladakh Gazette Extraordinary SG-LD-E-04112022-1160, Part II Section 3, 4 November 2022. Before this, the wages applying in Ladakh were those notified by the then Jammu and Kashmir Government — this notification records that its Advisory Committee considered them, along with the Border Roads Organisation's rates, the Central Labour Commissioner's rates and the rates fixed by the Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kargil, and then fixed Ladakh's own. The rates come into force from the date of the notification itself.

The same notification also says

  • The notification fixes three skill grades and no semi-skilled rate, and a fourth category of administrative, ministerial and accounts staff at ₹535 a day — below skilled work rather than above it.
  • Its schedule covers 46 scheduled employments, forty-five in Part-I and agriculture in Part-II.
  • The definitions of unskilled, skilled and highly skilled work, and the classification of jobs under them, are in the notification's own words only illustrative and indicative, not exhaustive — it says they are intended to act only as a guide.
  • The memo line at the foot of the notification prints the month and year but leaves the day blank, reading "Dated: .11.2022". It is shown here as printed.
  • Whether these rates have since been revised is not established. The Administration's own Labour Department page carries no wage notification, and the Ladakh Gazette Portal could not be reached when this was checked on 28 September 2026.

Administrative, ministerial and accounts staff

The notification fixes a fourth category alongside the three skill grades. It is not a skill grade: at ₹535 a day it sits between unskilled and skilled work, not above it.

Ladakh's own rules · researched

The table above is from the state's own published minimum wage notification. Everything below is Ladakh-specific, researched and not yet checked against an official source.

Ladakh fixes its own minimum wages. Before it did, the rates applying here were those the Jammu and Kashmir Government had notified — this notification replaced them, and nothing on this page is carried over from J&K.

Why no uplifted figures are shown
Not yet addedThe notification states a percentage and never prints the higher wage. Showing a computed figure here would put a number on the page that no instrument states, so this desk gives the rate and the percentage separately and leaves the arithmetic to you.
