Bonus eligibility ₹21,000; calc base ₹7,000
Eligible if wages ≤ ₹21,000. If wages exceed ₹7,000, bonus is computed on ₹7,000 or the floor wage, whichever is higher.

New scheme under the Code on Social Security. 20-employee threshold and wage-ceiling architecture continue pending further notification.

Monthly wages: on or before the 7th of the succeeding month. Electronic credit plus a wage slip is the clean path.

Tamil Nadu shops: dearness allowance ₹7,353 a month from 1 April 2026
The Commissioner of Labour's statement of 18.02.2026 puts the dearness allowance for shops and commercial establishments at ₹7,353 a month — ₹40.18 for each of the 183 points above the 2010 base — on top of the basic rates of G.O.(2D) No.65 of 20.08.2024. Four zones; for the general categories the totals run from ₹13,823 to ₹14,743 a month.

Tamil Nadu LWF: ₹20 employee, ₹40 employer, ₹20 government a year
Rule 11-A of the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Rules, 1973 was amended by Gazette No. 538 (G.O.(Ms) No.161): each employee pays ₹20 a year, the employer ₹40 for each employee, and the Government ₹20 for each employee. The fund covers establishments with five or more persons.

Chennai profession tax revised from the second half of 2024-25
Greater Chennai Corporation charges ₹180 to ₹1,250 each half-year above ₹21,000 of average half-yearly income, under section 117-B(2) of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998. Other local bodies in Tamil Nadu set their own slabs.
