Minimum wages

State, zone, skill — shops vs industrial.

One statewide rate for each grade; the notification sets no zones.

Per month, and per day, fixed with immediate effect from 14 June 2019. These rates come from Notification No. LAB-1/6/2004 (Pt-II) of 14 June 2019, made under sub-section (1) of section 5 read with clause (b) of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and approved by the Cabinet vide O.M. No. CAB-2/2013(Pt) of 12 June 2019. It supersedes Notification No. LAB-1/6/2004 (Vol-III) of 31 October 2012. One table of three grades applies across all 19 scheduled employments, which were themselves revised to the National Industrial Classification of 2008.

SkillStatewide
unskilled₹5,280 / month₹176.00 / day
Semi-skilled₹6,300 / month₹210.00 / day
skilled₹7,050 / month₹235.00 / day

The same notification also says

  • The monthly figure is thirty times the daily rate in every grade, and the notification prints both.
  • The notification is expressed to be "in partial modification to" the Department's own notification dated 12 June 2019 — an instrument issued two days earlier which this desk does not hold. What that notification said, and what these rates changed about it, is therefore unknown and is not guessed at here.
  • The nineteen scheduled employments are listed by the notification itself, and include all establishments covered by the Nagaland Shops & Establishment Act, 1986 — which is how this desk knows Nagaland has its own shops legislation, though its text could not be obtained.
  • The copy held is the departmental one. It directs the Publisher of the Nagaland Gazette to publish it in the next issue, so the gazette version is a separate document this desk does not hold.
  • Only three grades are fixed — unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled. There is no highly skilled rate and none is shown.

Nagaland's published minimum wage rates date from 2019 and are the lowest on this desk. Whether anything newer exists could not be established, because no Nagaland government website could be reached.

Whether these are still the current rates
Could not be checkedNeither labour.nagaland.gov.in nor nagaland.gov.in serves any content — both accept a connection and then never complete a request, and the certificates are valid, so this is not a security refusal but an unresponsive server. For every other jurisdiction on this desk it has been possible at least to establish that nothing newer was published. For Nagaland it was not, and that is a weaker position, stated as such.Checked 28/09/2026
