Minimum wages

State, zone, skill — shops vs industrial.

One statewide rate for each grade; the notification sets no zones.

Per day, in force from 1 April 2026, across all 29 scheduled employments. These rates come from Notification No. LE&SD.9/2023/Pt/26 of 1 May 2026, which takes effect from 1 April 2026 and supersedes Notification No. LE&SD.9/2023/Pt/14 of 21 July 2025. Meghalaya fixes no zones and publishes no separate schedule per employment: this single table is stated to cover all 29 scheduled employments, from agriculture and mines to shops, hotels, domestic workers and security guards. The rates are inclusive of the variable dearness allowance but exclusive of any other concession an employee enjoys, and they are revised every six months on the price index, so a further revision is expected — the notification states no end date and none is assumed here.

SkillStatewide
unskilled₹555.00 / day
Semi-skilled₹598.00 / day
skilled₹640.00 / day
Highly skilled₹682.00 / day

The same notification also says

  • The rates are per day. The notification prints no monthly figure and gives no rule for working one out, so none is shown.
  • The minimum rates include the wages payable for the weekly day of rest.
  • Working hours continue at 8 hours a day and 48 hours a week until further orders.
  • Overtime is paid at double the ordinary rate of wages.
  • The variable dearness allowance is rounded off to the next higher rupee. The four allowance figures are mutually consistent with a single underlying percentage under that rounding rule, which is a check on the reading rather than a figure the notification states.
  • Issued with the concurrence of the Finance (PR) Department and signed by the Principal Secretary, and sent to the Director of Printing and Stationery for publication in the extraordinary gazette.
  • This notification was confirmed as the current one on 28 September 2026 against the Labour Commissioner's own register of notifications, where it heads the Minimum Wages Act section.

A monthly rate
Not yet addedThe notification fixes rates by the day only. It gives no monthly figure and no rule for working one out, so none is shown here.
What the rates already include
The variable dearness allowance, and the weekly day of restThe revised rates are inclusive of the variable dearness allowance but exclusive of any other concession an employee enjoys, and the minimum rates include the wages payable for the weekly day of rest. So there is nothing further to add for either.Notification No. LE&SD.9/2023/Pt/26 of 1 May 2026, Department of Labour, Employment and Skill Development, Government of Meghalaya
How the allowance is worked out
Rounded off to the next higher rupeeThe allowance is linked to the Consumer Price Index and revised every six months. The four allowance figures are all consistent with a single underlying percentage under that rounding rule, which corroborates the reading — but the notification never prints the percentage, so this desk does not either.Notification No. LE&SD.9/2023/Pt/26 of 1 May 2026, Department of Labour, Employment and Skill Development, Government of Meghalaya

Not yet addedMeghalaya fixes no zones and publishes no separate schedule per employment. The same four grades and the same four figures are stated to apply across every scheduled employment, which is unlike most states on this desk, where the employment determines the rate.
