Schedule-III: Bihar's piece rates
Bihar fixes wages twice over. Schedule-II sets a rate for a day's work by skill grade, and is on the minimum wages page. This schedule sets a rate for a quantity of work — so much per hundred cubic feet of stone, per lakh of bidis, per thousand bricks, per haircut, per railway wagon, per fifty thousand kendu leaves — across twelve scheduled employments. Both are in force together.
What the figures are. Each rate is built as a chain of increments from 1 September 2022 to 1 October 2025, to which this revision adds an allowance from 1 April 2026. The notification prints the chain, the allowance and the total, and calls the last of them “Column (3+4)”. The total is what is published here. The chain is shown underneath as provenance — not as a calculation this page performs.

On earth cutting, for women workers: “Decision of 15% less earth cutting for women worker, but will gate equal wage”. A woman worker's cutting quota is fifteen per cent lower and her wage is the same. The English text prints “gate” where it plainly means “get”; the Hindi is unambiguous.

₹11.65 to 1 Oct 2025 + ₹0.20 from 1 Apr 2026
This row does not add up, in either language. Both texts print a cumulated rate of 11.65 and a VDA of 0.2, which come to 11.85, and both print a total of 11.67. The row contradicts itself identically in Hindi and English, so neither text settles it. The same cumulated rate of 11.65 appears at II(iii) below with a VDA of 0.21 and a total of 11.86.

The two texts disagree. The Hindi text prints 874.00 and the English 8,874.00 — a difference of an order of magnitude. Both print the same subtotal of 858.00 and the same VDA of 16.00, which come to 874.00, so the English total contradicts its own two columns. The same 858 + 16 chain is printed as 874.00 for fire bricks in the English text itself.

The two texts give different UNITS, and they differ by a factor of thirty-five. This is a difference of unit, not of amount, and the two readings differ by a factor of thirty-five. The Hindi text gives the unit as a bag of 35 kg, matching the charcoal row immediately above it, which both texts agree is per 35 kg bag. The English text gives it as per kilogram. Nothing in the notification resolves which is intended.
