Minimum wages
State, zone, skill — shops vs industrial.
One statewide rate for each grade; the notification sets no zones.
Monthly rates including the cumulated dearness allowance, in force from 1 January 2026. This notification is dated 17 June 2026 and takes effect from 1 January 2026 — nearly six months earlier. The one before it, No. E-238621/700, was dated 13 February 2026 for wages effective 1 June 2025, more than eight months late. A reader standing in a month with no new order should expect Assam's next revision to arrive late rather than conclude that none is coming. That is the department's own record, from the orders it publishes.
These rates apply from from 1 January 2026.

The same notification also says
- The rates are per month. The notification divides the monthly total by twenty-six to give the daily figure and prints both, so the daily rate is its own computation and not a derivation.
- There are no zones. One table covers three long lists of scheduled employments, and shops and commercial establishments are named in the first of them — which is why this page carries no caveat about whether the rates reach them.
- The allowance is cumulative: the notification adds this half-year's 2.63 per cent of basic to the allowance already accrued, and prints the running total rather than a single figure.
- The dearness allowance rose 3.78 index points, which the notification states as 2.63 per cent, on the average All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (base 2016=100) for June to December 2025.
- Every grade's new allowance is exactly 2.63 per cent of its basic — ₹189.36 on ₹7,200, ₹220.92 on ₹8,400, ₹276.15 on ₹10,500 and ₹355.05 on ₹13,500.
- The highly skilled row does not reconcile with the previous notification, and the figure published here is the one printed. See the note on the wages page.
- Assam also fixes wages separately for plantations, for loading and unloading urea bags, and for medical representatives and other pharmaceutical work. Those notifications are not published here.
- The department's own website had not published this notification when this page was written; its newest listed order was for 1 June 2025. This copy is the eOffice original.
